Must be a nightmare if you have allergies. Or I suppose if you’re sight impaired. Or your phone’s out of charge. Or if you eat out for some sort of social interaction.
Thank you for mentioning that, Barbara! Yes, it is a nightmare. If I walk in a restaurant and I have to buy a ticket from a machine or if there is a QR code, I walk out. I’m not anti QR code because they are valuable at times, but most restaurant menus don’t allow you to zoom in, so I can’t read them.
First off, grumpy bold men are we. Before you get yer panties in a bunch I’m lumping myself in there and assuming you are of middle age or older.
Tech is not our game. Start with that premise.
One of my students at a uni where I teach business presentations literally just did a presentation on McDonaldization. The premise, the customer does the work of what was once the hired helps job, QR code ordering being one of them. Self checkouts another along with busing your own dishes and throwing away trash.
Google it if you want to know more it’s a fascinating journey to the bottom which AI and many others are taking folks unbeknownst to themselves.
So be happy to be old and know we can choose not to be part of it or as much as we choose to be.
And they want us to constantly download their pointless apps too. Do they expect us to access an app for every establishment and service provider we visit?

I've been in places that don't even have a paper menu! You just scan on a code and the menu appears on your phone. It's not a good experience.

Lol, yup. I just like a good moan!!

I hate that. It feels really invasive.
So much to be gained from human interaction. We are all in this together.
